Each of the following creatures can be initially purchased by donating real money to the site. Money is used to pay for servers and bandwidth and to pay the artists for their hard work, and other site maintenance costs.
Donations to the site result in Crystal Shards at a rate of $1 = 1 Shard. The shards themselves are non-transferable.
Donation creatures are currently cycled on a monthly basis, with one set being retired and a new one becoming available at the beginning of the month, and another set in the middle of the month. First of the month creatures cost 5 and 3 shards, while mid-month creatures are only 2 shards.
There are usually 2 slightly different creatures (often variants of the same sprite) for the 1st of the month creature, and just one for the mid-month, although any of them may have gender differences in the sprites.
Donation pets are not able to reproduce, so once they are retired, only those already purchased may remain in circulation. While they tend to be resold by players for gold, the price rises exponentially once they are retired, and the longer it has been since they were retired, the fewer there are available, and the harder they are to come by.
Each Post will include an image of the egg, hatchling and adult images, side art if available, the time of release, the artist who drew it, the common abbreviations you may see and any additional information it may be useful to know.
If you find an error in the posts, or have information to add, please send a message to Hawke (either here, or directly through Magistream.)
More prettiness to come!

5. (Old) Gold Crystalwing Released: May 2009 Cost: 5 Shards Artist: Rijolt Common Abbreviation: None Additional Information: This was the first donation pet available. This is also the rarest of donation pets as there were only a little more than 1000 players total when they were available for purchase, so there were very few people to buy them.

14. (Light) Unicorn Released: June 2009 Cost: 3 Shards Artist: Rijolt Common Abbreviation: Unicorn, Old Unicorn Additional Information: This was the second donation pet to be released. Although there were more initially purchased, it seems to be more highly sought after than the Crystalwings, simply because it is a Unicorn. Together with the Dark Unicorns, these are referred to as "Old Unicorns", while the later released Earth and Frost are "New Unicorns".

24. Celestial Dragon Released: July 2009 Cost: 3 Shards Artist: BettyxMe and Rijolt Common Abbreviation: Celestial Additional Information: When the Dragons were initially released, they had some anatomical oddities and lacked much in the way of shading and so appeared monochromatic and flat. Rijolt (with Tristan's permission) altered them slightly, making them the beautiful sprites you see now. They, like the Unicorns, have had a high demand, with low supply. A Celestial Dragon is mentioned in one of the legends of the Magistream world, and her name is a component of one of the quests.

28. Temple Cat Released: July 15, 2009 Cost: 2 Shards Artist: Niwer Common Abbreviation: None Additional Information: This was the first mid-month donation pet offered. Oddly enough, it is probably the single most highly sought after donation pet. Look at how cute the egg and kitten are, and how lovely the adult... can you blame people for wanting them?
