175. (Green) Ornamental Penguin Released: Christmas 2010 How Obtained: A gift to Magistream to players who gave at least 10 gifts to others. Artist: GlassWalker/ BettyxMe Common Abbreviation: Penguin, Ornamental, Pengie, Pengy Breeding Information: NOT interbreedable with White Ornamental Penguins Additional Information: There was a glitch when the Penguins were first released, resulting in all eggs hatching female (yup, just like the jackalopes). These are limited to only three breedings (like the Coal Wyrms) Creature 175 was loaded to the system several days before they actually became available, resulting in much speculation about what the new creature was, and the original Creature 175 thread being locked by the mods. Creature 176 was actually available before this one was. This set has gender differences - Female: less decorative crest feathers, no red tips to flippers
- Male: More decorative crest feathers, red flipper tips

198. Oblivion Pillagebeast Released: April 1, 2011 (April Fool's Day) How Obtained: Stream flood for over 12 hours on April 1st only. Artist: Glasswalker Common Abbreviation: troll eggs, fool eggs, oblivionbeast Breeding Information: these do not breed Additional Information: These never hatch, never grow up. While live, they take up eggslots, but clicks will make them grow, up to 98%, but then they go back down to 0%, and continue to yo-yo for as long as they are live. All the Oblivion Pillagebeast eggs were lost in the crash, but were replaced through the recovery form. When first caught, the egg's description reads only, "This is the most amazing egg that has ever existed and ever will exist." After a few hours, it changes to another single line, "This egg is no longer as amazing as it once appeared to be." Finally, it changes to, "In all honesty, this egg kind of sucks." These descriptions changed regardless of whether the egg was frozen or not. The Equation On page 206 of the Community Discussion Thread, in the evening of April 1st, Tristan posted this : This began a flurry of attempts to figure out what it might mean. BlackParadox posted this: "Trig, I think. And if I'm right it should produce a wave-shaped graph, like you'd see for sound waves. Assuming it's relevant to the eggs, it means that 98% is the highest they can get, and they just go eternally up and down between 0 and 98." to explain it. Lunaroki gave a more in depth explanation with this: " I found the equation very simple to understand. Some people have already figured it out. X is how long you've had your particular egg. Sin is a function that eternally oscillates between -1 and 1. If you add 1 to that you get a set of numbers ranging between 0 and 2. Divide by 2 and you get numbers ranging between 0 and 1. Multiply the result by 98% and you get hatching percentages between 0% and 98%. In other words, these eggs will continue to oscillate between 0% hatched and 98% hatched no matter how long you have them. There is simply no possible way for these eggs to ever hatch until Tristan changes the formula that determines their hatching percentage."By page 217, Tristan posted: "That wasn't meant to be a clue, that was meant to be a straightforward answer, a mathematical "April fools!" "Further Proof It was discovered at some point, that Morgaln had frozen his eggs.
Despite the word from Tristan, and this evidence from Morgaln, many players insisted that the eggs MUST hatch at some point.
Wolfeyedangel finally posted: "The formula was the official 'april fools' announcement of the day. They're not hatching. The formula was the equation that calculated the percents on the egg at any given moment and it maxes at 98%." making it clear that the eggs were a joke and never going to hatch."
Still, some refuse to believe, and continue to hold on to their live eggs in hope that something will change. If Tristan were to change the equation that determines how the percentage is determined, it is possible they could hatch. This is a highly unlikely scenario.
Fan art and descriptions Over the course of the day and night as players hoped for a hatching, but began to accept that there would not be one, discussion of what the creatures should look like or be described as began to flow. The Fan Arts By Glasswalker By GoblinShark By Infernette by ShukuraThe Descriptions Spectrospec's description based on the ideas tossed out by various players in the thread: I thought up a description for them! *cough* I mean...I found this description in a dusty tome.
The Oblivion Pillagebeast and other subspecies of Pillagebeast are the inspiration for the Jersey Devil myths. With the body of a platypus, the horns of an Ibex, udders that seem to have evolved spontaneously sometime in the past which can be made to shoot a substance similar to Orange Juice, and an orange toaster which it uses for protection and the hunting of prey, this creature is one of the most unique known to man. Because its habitat is forests near the ocean, it often stows away on ships; legend has it that if a Pillagebeast takes refuge in your cargo hold, the weather will remain fair for the duration of the voyage. This legend originated due to the fact that Pillagebeasts are very accurate meteorologists, and hate storms. They do not have much magic to speak of, but if in true danger, they emit cries that can invoke mass panic in those who hear them.
They have never been domesticated, but if raised from birth, they will tolerate the presence of humans. Sometimes tame Pillagebeasts have been used in battle - If a successful bellow can be attained, the opposing army will often break ranks and flee for their lives. There has never been and will never be a creature as epic as the Pillagebeast. Ever. FlametheShingaw came up with this one based on one of the fanart hatchlings Despite their name, Oblivion Pillagebeasts neither pillage small villages nor obliterate for the pleasure of it, and don't appear to be a 'beast' at all. Living deep in the forest, they are rarely seen except for an incredible phenomena which happens only once every handful of years in which they show up in swarms, with numbers in the hundreds. They survive mostly on small animals, such as mice, and insects which they dig for all day to pacify their ravenous appetites. They live in burrows they dig into the ground and are fiercely protective of their homes and young. Though cute when you first look at them, they are not afraid to attack those they deem a threat and, due to their natural violence, are very hard to train. Raised by a magi right, though, they become fiercely loyal companions that will often hop around happily at your side, although they should be kept away from the creatures of other magi, since the Oblivion Pillagebeast seems to go overboard with 'protecting' their magi and are likely to attack any creature they don't know that comes too close to their magi. This hatchling is cute and fluffy, though it doesn't seem to like attention much while it is awake. It spends most of its day digging for food and digging intricate tunnels in the dirt that it likes to run around in with other young Oblivion Pillagebeasts. It is rare to see a young Oblivion Pillagebeast doing nothing while it is awake. Before it falls asleep, though, it likes to seek you out and fall asleep in your lap. This is one of the few times in the day when you can actually spend time with it. Neko13 came up with two. One based on GoblinShark's hatchling and one on Infernette's. The one for GoblinShark's This hatchling is very unpredictable, and seems to gnaw upon everything. While a ridiculously adorable critter and impossible to resist, it proves to be a troublesome creature. One moment it is loving and wants nothing more than to be cuddled, only for it to abruptly turn aloof and vicious as it tries to escape away from all attention. On occasion, small streams of smoke will escape from its maw, and a spout of hiccups will bring about spurts of flame. It’s never caught by surprise, as it always appear to be aware of when a being is around. For some reason, it is extremely agitated when its horns are touched. Magis have a difficult time separating themselves from these hatchlings. However, the longer magis are intact with these creatures, the more their grasp on reality appears to weaken. Already, owners of this innocent hatchling are seen yelling at wall and incorrectly using rakes as a way of shifting soil. Ever since these False Pillagebeasts have appeared in the keep, things have been rather unstable.
Pillagebeasts are among the most amazing of creatures. They are more abundant in the wild, where they are known to travel in large hoards that appear to be never ending. However, within a quick moment they vanish, leaving behind not a trace or even hint to their whereabouts. They are orangey in colour, with and speckled black down their back. The exhibit a pair of leathery wings which, despite their frail appearance, allow flight in even the most extreme of winds. Pillagebeast have been spotted in two forms that vastly differ from one another. False and Reverse Pillagebeasts have a strong pull on individuals, but are natural enemies towards each other. Just the mere presence of a False Pillagebeast can drive a Reverse to the ends of madness. When pushed far enough into the deeps of insanity, a Reverse will undergo a transformation and emerge as a False Pillagebeast. While these pets may seem to be a wonderful addition to an magi’s keep, the difficulties that come with them make them very questionable as to whether they are worth it. The one for Infernette's This hatchling is very calm and lax, and its fangs seem to do very little harm. They may be young, but they display a appearance that is a bit frightening. Disturbing noises come from it at all times of days, ranging from shrill cries to low moans. It’s a curious creature, and often gets its head stuck into all sorts of trouble. While it is often seen curled up and sleeping, it is surprisingly difficult to keep track of. Even the smallest sound manages to get it jumping up in surprise, jerking out of even the deepest of sleeps. This critter doesn’t really do much however. Compared to many other creatures of the keep, it exhibits no none abilities. Despite it’s partly alarming looks, this hatchlings does have some sort of draw to itself. Magis already, are spending quite a bit of time with these Reverse Pillagebeasts. As a result, many individuals are showing a shocking new intellect.
